For an environmental storyteller from Ghana, Morocco had always existed in his imagination as a land of sand, sun and drought—a place where rain was rare and precious. But after arriving in Morocco in 2024, he began to encounter a more complicated reality.

Then, in December 2025, persistent winter rains transformed that familiar landscape. Streets became rivers, homes flooded, cars were swept away and communities were forced to confront a hazard their infrastructure was never designed to withstand.
